Please know, that this is not about the HONEST, Braiders, who beleve in QUALITY, FAIRNESS, and CUSTOMER SERVICE. This is about those who beleive a customer is just a dollar sign, and they can treat them any way they want.
I am speaking up for every woman who got up from a chair in tears in their eyes or is the victim of apathy. I'm tired of giving my hard earned money only to be treated poorly.

Like you, I came on Craigslist looking for a braider... I came across the ad listed below and contacted the braider. I asked how much for lacing, and if the braider had any specifics about the type of hair and the length of hair used. The response was $125 for the service, and I could bring what ever hair that suited me. Now, at $125, I thought this was a blessing, all the other prices from other braiders were much higher than that. I made an appointment with Yebhe for the following saturday (May 17) and ordered my Remy hair from my supplier. When I contacted the braider by phone to confirm the appointment, I found that I was actually negotiating with her husband, Salif. I thought this strange, but since there was an obvious language barrier there, I didn't think much of it.

When I got to the braider's apartment in Alexandria, Yebhe and Salif tried to change the price they quoted to $200! Apparently, Salif misunderstood what I meant by "lacing" and just quoted me a price off the top of his head. I grabbed my things, thanked them for their time and started for the door. Instead of letting "money walk out" they told me they would do my lacing for $150. Considering I came all the way from Montgomery County, MD, I stayed.

Big mistake! When Yebhe finished, my hair looked decent for micros. Definately not lacing. I didnt have time to stay longer, and I figured that I'll live with it, plus I felt bad for their sick baby who was also in the apartment. I paid her $160 (I tip out of habit).

It seems that Yebhe only did a decent job in the front of my hair.. the back, totally different story. I got home and got in the shower, and before I knew it, I had a drain full of hair... shocked I took a good look at the back and middle of my hair. I almost cried when I saw the state of my braids, moreover.. the expensive Remy hair that I used was basically runied. I called the Soumare's back and told them that my hair had to be fixed. Salif (the husband) told me to give them a chance to fix it. I did the very next day.

It took Yebhe a grand total of 4 minutes to take my entire middle section out. Then she finally told the truth (in which her husband translated) that she couldnt do lacing with the hair that I brought and could only do micros. Fed up with the idea of this woman not only waisting what was left of the Remy I bought, but my time as well, I asked for my money back. Yebhe gave me $50. Frustrated, angered, and ready to blow my top, I walked out... with about 70% of my hair unbraided!

So now, I have to find some thing cost effective to do to my hair before I go on vacation.

I have contacted the Soumare's about their lack of services. I have not received a response. I believe it's only right for them to refund me for the additional money they wasted suggesting they could do my hair. I've attached pics of this nightmare.

I cannot tell you NOT to go to these people. I would have less integrity then these folks if I remain quiet about their practices.

I am tired of being taken advantage of by those who do horrible quality services! I am ready to sue these people!
